...as the locals call it...

The Raddy, the Maddy, the Stilly, the Stone, the Pan, the Fork, the Yak, the Clack, the Beav, the Gunny, the Poudre, the Lackey, the Lackey (yes, twice in the same state, even), the Big T, the Mo, the Platte, the Platte, the Horn, the East, the Gally, the PM, the Hooch, the Ronde.
Guess what river, listed above, this is.

We have such affection for our favorite rivers that nicknames were inevitable. Here are some that I could think of -  what am I missing? What's your home water's nickname?

The Root and the Rock. I haven't heard a nickname for the Big Hole, yet. It already sounds like a nickname, maybe that's why.

I thought about that, and the Firehole. Can't just call it the Hole...

I would like to call the Big Hole - "The Last Best River" or "thank god tourists don't like this river as much as the Madison", but those nicknames just aren't as catchy.

Ha ha. I agree, with the possible exception of the salmonfly hatch. But it's still probably worse on the "Maddy".

"Poudre" and "Tommy" are our homewaters.
